I don't teach screenwriting structure because I believe there are rules to screenwriting, or that there is a right way and a wrong way to write. I teach structure because 98% of new writers struggle to write a story that is engaging through the whole script.
Structure helps us meet markers along the road to keep our story interesting and our characters captivating. No one is grading you on your proper structure. But if Ferrari built beautiful cars with crappy engines, Enzo would still be racing for Fiat. (Well, he'd be dead by now regardless, but you get the analogy.)
