SAG Awards Winners

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards aired live last Sunday night. Different from the Golden Globes, the Emmys, and to some degree the Oscars, SAG awards are chosen by fellow actors. Regular people who wait tables, do short films, get cast in a low-budget movie every five years, etc. get to vote on the winners. All you need is a current membership in the union.

"Why do I care?" You might ask. "Awards are overrated and not merit-based," you might say. "They're always political" or "They always give it to the white guy." Doesn't matter. I don't follow award shows because I believe they'll teach me something about what's worthy and not worthy; I follow award shows because I want to know what's out there.

Plus, I love a good acceptance speech! :)

Even if you think award shows aren't relevant or interesting, my tip for you this week is to keep up with what's current. If you want to be in this business, you should know what's going on in this business.
