Entering Screenplay Competitions

There are a buh-zillion screenplay competitions out there, and most of them charge a fee. Unless you have a money tree in your backyard, I recommend you be a little picky with how you choose your competitions to enter. If you're using a competition as street cred (which is one of the only reasons to do it) then I also recommend that you only submit to respected competitions that people know and admire. Again, if you can afford to submit to them all, go nuts. But if you can't, I'd like to recommend the following 16 competitions to focus on. If you can't place in any of these, maybe (maybe) your script needs a little more work.

The post about entering screenwriting competitions really breaks down how important it is to pick strong ideas and stay consistent with submissions. It made me think about how creative writing always needs patience and revision before it feels ready. I remember struggling with my first short script in school and rewriting it many times. During that time, I once explored order business management dissertations online while learning how structured formats help organize complex ideas. It shows that preparation and clarity matter in any kind of writing journey.
